A very LARGE and impressive pressed glass ceiling bowl. Originally made at the turn of the century, we have now recreated it after months and months of development and die making time.

While this is an expensive shade, the dies and time to make this monster glass shade are equally impressive. If you knew how hard it is to handle a glass shade of this size and weight, in a glass environment, you surely would be impressed. There is no mechanical handling here; super-skilled glass workers handle it all, by hand. We would like to say that every one of these that comes out of the die, is successful, but that is not the case. Big glass projects, of this weight, have a high failure rate.

Given all this hype, the measurements are: 21 1/8” overall diameter (normally) with a fitter size of 20”; overall height is about 6”. Glass thickness is usually about 3/8” or so but varies due to the hand-made nature of the process. Measurements can vary just slightly due to handling. And normally, there might be some tiny glass imperfections due to the hand made nature…JUST like the antique ones.

We made this fantastic shade mainly to solve a need for commercial or other large lighting projects that desire a larger diameter quality glass shade instead of plastic, and yet, have a limited ceiling height. Chandeliers 850-CCL (35” diameter with a mere 14” hang height) and 849-CCL (25” diameter and 15” hang height) resulted.

We are now offering this shade, by itself, since requests have been coming in due to antique frames needing this larger shade. Actually being light makers, we can also offer to make other desired fixtures, using this shade, if the budget exists.
