ANT-502 Lovely Pair of Circa 1930s Wall Sconces
Original antique backplates and original antique shades. These sconces have a formal Edwardian ambiance, and have a pewter look that is so typical of the Edwardian design style.
The original antique shades are simple, with a typical custard coloring below, converting to a band of clear glass at the top.
The metal of the backplates is cast zinc and aluminum with a lovely pewter finish.
Ready to go...nothing needs to be done except add the light bulbs of your choice. Any standard light bulb can be used...but...we like to suggest using our neat little LED bulb 45G-E26B if these sconces are for ambiance and less than full room light. This little 2 watt bulb produces almost as much light as a 25 watt incandescent bulb, but only nibbles at the electricity. AND...it lasts 30,000 hours. We suggest this bulb for its low profile, which prevents the bulb from peeking over the rim of the shade. Just a final, nicer, touch.
These sconces have been completely re-wired with true bakelite sockets and all new wire. We have also replaced the switches, made by Leviton in the '20s...and still made up to two years ago. So these switches, by Leviton, are becoming more antique as we note this.
