The darkened bakelite socket is capable of a 100 watt bulb, but the picture was taken with a small 11 watt bulb to not blow out the focus and allow the frame details to show through. We would recommend our cute little LED bulb for the correct ambiance, but any and all medium base bulbs can be used with the medium base socket.
