ZLW-255N Antique Reproduction Mythical Night Push Plate
Perhaps the finest push plates ever designed or made. This fantastic pair came from a 1930's Chicago "Fortune 500" company headquarters being remodeled. The theme is Mythical Day (ZLW-254D) and Night.
Both plates show a goddess with cupid but they are so totally different. While the Goddess of Day has feathered wings, the Goddess of Night has bat wings. While Day spreads sun rays, Night spreads stars. Day carries roses; Night poppy buds. Wings of the cupids mimic the goddesses. Other motifs include: Day: flowers, torches, and morning glory. Night: owl, bat, and hemlock. Wow!!! Lost Wax cast brass, darkened to an antique finish and lacquered.
Measurements for both plates: 3 1/2" wide. Daytime plate is 11 1/2" tall. Night plate is 1/8" shorter.
