ANT-939 Great Art Deco 3-Shade Chandelier by Virden
This nice three shade chandelier was made by Virden and pictured in their catalog of 1935.
They called this series: “The Malvern Series”. In this series, there was a 2 light & a 3 light and this five light and one wall sconce. The five light was as good as it came...no 6 light was shown or ever made. (Courtesy of the Kelly Art Deco Light Museum)
The frame is cast metal with an old bronze colored finish. Being an antique, some thinning here and there appropriate for it’s age, but, pretty darn good too for it’s age as the pictures will attest.
The shades are amber and in good ...remarkable... condition. The shades have two colors...amber above and clear below as can be seen below the holding frame. There is some variation in the shades and in the frames, so trying different shades in different holders yields the best results. All being hand made, this variance is not unusual.
The chandelier has been completely re-wired, in our UL shop and comes with a complete mounting kit for installation to a normal electrical box. Sockets can easily handle 100 watt incandescent bulbs.
Measurements: Height: 20" It can be lengthened with the addition of chain links, which we could do for you. Please contact us if you would like a quote. Width: Maximum diameter is 12 1/2”. All mounting hardware will be supplied.
