ANT-938 Very Nice Art Deco Pair of Sconces by Virden
These hard-to-find sconces were made by Virden and pictured in their catalog of 1935.
They called this series: “The Malvern Series”. In this series, there was a 2 light & a 3 light and this five light and one wall sconce which we see here. (Courtesy of the Kelly Art Deco Light Museum)
The sconce frames are cast metal with an old bronze colored finish. Being an antique, some thinning here and there appropriate for it’s age, but, pretty darn good too for it’s age as the pictures will attest.
The shades are amber and in good ...remarkable... condition. The shades have two colors...amber above and clear below as can be seen below the holding frame.
These sconces have been completely re-wired, in our UL shop and come with a mounting kit for installation to a normal electrical box. Sockets can easily handle 100 watt incandescent bulbs and each sconce does have a replaced rotary switch.
Measurements: Sconces measure 12 1/2” tall by 5” wide. They project into the room 6 3/4” with those neat protrudiing shades.
Price: $795.00 for the pair of UL re-wired Virden Malvern sconces with their amber shades... plus shipping.
