ANT-774 American Art Deco STREAMLINE Sconces by Virden
Cast 1939 signed Art Deco sconces that are in the Virden catalog #39 (i.e. 1939 as the catalog number reflected the year it was published). These sconces were item 6001 from the Carleton Series, and Virden bragged: "Underwriters Approved". Please note the picture of the original green paper label still attached on the back of one of the sconces. You can just make out the Virden name.
The metal finish is pewter, while the shades have those typical Streamline concentric rings which are so very iconic of Streamline design. The shade colors are all original, and near-mint. There is a tiny bit of roughness to the frames...not serious...but as cast, and 1930s produced. It's pretty plain in the pictures...not perfect...but nice antiques.
