ANT-703 Art Deco Odeon Theatre Pair of Clam Shell Sconces
Very neat shell motif British theatre sconces.
These sconces are often called Odeon Lights, since the main movie house chain in Britain has named all their theatres "Odeon". In fact...Odeon is often a synonymous term for a movie theatre, i.e. "Let's go to the Odeon". These sconces could be supplied with frosted, or amber, and even pink tinted shades around the turn of the century.
As shown, these particular shades are amber glass shades mounted in a nickel plated frame. They are a bit unusual to have bottom rotary switches, as most British sconces did not have them because they were used in commercial theaters. In older British theaters, you can still see them existing where they have been for over half a century or more.
We have re-wired these sconces to UL American standards, in our UL listed shop, with new American medium based sockets. We also replaced the British push button switch with an American rotary switch of the period. Each sconce takes a single 100 watt bulb.
These sconces are ready to hang with an American standard light mounting kit, which we will supply.
