ANT-541 Fantastic Art Deco Streamline Sconces with Black Line Step Shades
Really, have not seen a pair of sconces with a more fantastic Streamline Design than these beauties. Wish we knew who made them, but so scarce, no literature could be found, even though we spent considerable time in our museum library.
History: we originally received four of these sconces from a building that was rumored to be a money management office before the Depression..but..folded DURING the Depression. Wouldn't it be interesting if these sconces could talk? Must have been some interesting conversations of that time, in that area.
We received four...BUT...only two could be salvaged. The other two looked like they were hit by hammers, and were badly dented. Additionally, we also only received three shades...one of those three was badly damaged. The result...ONE restorable PAIR, and they are here presented.
Outstanding Art Deco Streamline design is presented with this pair of sconces. Circa 1920 - 1930. Construction is by mixed metals and nickel plating. We did completely disassemble each sconce for cleaning, and then polished them for preservation, since they were coated with paint drips, stains and storage gunk.
We have rewired these sconces to UL American standards with new sockets in our UL shop. Each sconce contains a normal UL approved porcelain medium base socket capable of 150 watts. But, in the interest of the antique glassware...we would use lower wattage bulbs. We also replaced the original rotary switches which are tucked into the area behind the shade and cannot be seen. So, these are ready to hang with a standard light mounting kit which we will also supply.
