ANT-512 Art Deco Pair of Slip Shade Wall Sconces by Markel
A nice pair of Art Deco sconces made by Markel Electric Products of Buffalo, New York in the mid 30s.
These sconces were part of Markel's 4870 line from his catalog of 1936. They are wonderfully cast in iron, and have the original gold gilt finish with some minor imperfections which are not significant other than to show their history.
The shades are amber, and in good...remarkable...condition.
These sconces have been completely re-wired with new sockets and rotary switches. Sockets can easily handle 100 watt incandescent bulbs. However, if you choose to use incandescent light bulbs, we recommend no more than 60 to 65 watts to protect the glass shades from excessive heat.
