ANT-317 Art Deco - Lovely pair of 1920 Art Deco Wall Sconces
Original antique sconces with an original poly-chrome coloring...although...like a good oriental carpet, it is subdued and mellow and even has some wear....it is in....pretty good condition for all this time though...it probably could be brightened up. However, we like antiques to look like antiques so will leave it to the next owner to make that final finish decision.
The shades are really quite unique. Heavy cast glass with heavy embossed designs, they are a deep amber color which is very earthy when not alight. With a strong bulb, they give an ambiance that is quite antique. We took our picture with a 15 watt bulb so the camera would focus on the light and shade detail... not get blown out by too strong a bulb.
These sconces have been completely re-wired in our UL shop with new sockets and all new wire. We have also replaced the rotary switches, made by Leviton in the 20’s...and were still made up to ONE year ago. So these switches, by Leviton are becoming even more antique as we note this.
Measurements: The Overall sconce height is 10”. The maximum width (shade) is 4 3/4”. It will project into the room, from the wall 5 1/2”.
