ANT-1438 Art Deco Streamline Slip Shade Chandelier-Circa 1935
This chandelier was on the top-of-the-line of the Mid-West Mnf. “Newport” series...circa 1935. This example was made for lower ceiling heights but still has the bottom shade. The bottom shade is slightly different color but that is normal for these types of fixtures.
Mid-West was located in Kansas City and had a reputation for making quality lighting. As proof, it did survive the Great Depression to be sold to Thomas Industries only a couple of years ago.
The finish of the chandelier is a red-bronze finish, with dark splots, in excellent condition for it’s antique age.
All amber shades are in very nice condition with just a tiny bit of roughness that reflects their age. Each socket is capable of receiving a 100-watt bulb. The sockets for each outside slip shade are normal medium base sockets while the bottom shade has a chandelier bulb socket due to the narrow space that requires a smaller bulb.
Streamline in design—this Chandelier captures the essence of the Streamline movement. It is a great representation from a known maker and series.
Measurements: It has a diameter of about 18” and a height of 21” but the height can be shortened since it has a single stem.
The chandelier has been completely re-wired in our UL shop with new sockets and wiring to conform to UL guidelines. Each slip shade socket is capable of accepting a 100-watt bulb.
This chandelier is ready to go and will be supplied with all the necessary mounting hardware.
Price: Complete Mid-West Newport Series Chandelier is $950.00 plus careful shipping.
