ANT-1416 British Streamline Art Deco or Mid-Century Modern Chandelier
This fixture is probably 30’s...and how interesting it really is.
First, the shades thread-in like bulkhead lights. This is the normal method when a waterproof gasket is added for moisture environments. So...theoretically...you could simply cut a waterproof gasket...add a touch of waterproofing caulk here and there where there might be water exposure, and you would have a moisture resistant fixture (perhaps a porch...or steamy bathroom...etc.)
Just chatting here...not advising. We just have not seen a fixture like this previously.
The Shades are really interesting...being deco designs, that thread-in, instead of the standard plain design. It might not be discernible...but...each square of the shade is raised...in an art-glass manner...not just flat. Very attractive when personally viewed.
Normal, American sockets were installed by removing the old bayonet-pin British sockets and re-working the threaded portions...in our UL shop...to meet American code.
All work was accomplished in our UL shop and is now totally up to American UL standards using American bulbs and power. It even installs with a re-worked UL approved standard crossbar, which will be supplied.
