ANT-1392 Unusual Theme Art Deco “Shell” Table Lights
Very neat shell-motif set of the British theater Table lamps from England. These lights are often called "Odeon" since one of the main movie house chains in Britain, named all their theaters "Odeon". They do vary in style...some shells and some with lines and even figural ones. But most popular was THIS shell motif.
In older British theaters, you can still see shell sconces (using this shade) existing where they have been for over half a century or more. “Odeon”...is sometimes a synonymous term for a movie theater in Britain. Saying, “let’s go to the Odeon”...is the same as saying, “let’s go to the movies.”
This is a very unique pair of “theme” lamps using the Odeon seashell shade with what has been described as a god-of-the-sea face...(Neptune or Poseidon) on the base. Very different.
The table lamps have antiqued pewter finish and use a new brown wire coming from the base with a cord switch. The designs are outstanding. The amber glass shell shades are in pretty good condition. Really, quite a quality presentation overall.
We have rewired these table lamps, to UL American standards, with new American sockets in our UL shop. Again...they do have short brown wire cords with line switches.
Measurements: The lamps are 16” tall with a shell width of 9 1/2”. The base has a diameter of 5 1/4”.
These THEME lamps use medium base bulbs, either incandescent or LEDs.
Price: $795.00 for this great pair of UL re-wired “Odeon” table lamps with their amber shell shades…plus shipping charges.
