ANT-1383 Great Art Deco 5-Shade Chandelier by Virden
This great five-shade chandelier was made by Virden and pictured in their catalog of 1935.
They called this series: “The Malvern Series”. In this series, there was a 2-light & a 3-light and this 5-light and one wall sconce. The 5-light was as good as it came...no 6-light was shown or ever made. (Courtesy of the Kelly Art Deco Light Museum)
The frame is cast metal with an old bronze colored finish. It’s pretty darn good too for its age, as the pictures will attest.
The shades are amber and in good...remarkable...condition. The shades have two colors...amber above and clear below as can be seen below the holding frame. There is some variation in the shades and in the frames, so trying different shades in different holders yields the best results. All being hand made, this variance is not unusual.
The chandelier has been completely re-wired, in our UL shop and comes with a complete mounting kit for installation to a normal electrical box. Sockets can easily handle 100-watt incandescent bulbs.
Measurements: The height of the chandelier is 25" with a maximum diameter of 16”.
It can be lengthened with the addition of chain links, which we could do for you. Please contact us if you would like a quote.
All mounting hardware will be supplied.
Price: $950.00 for the complete UL re-wired Virden Malvern Chandelier with its amber shades...plus shipping.
