ANT-1356 Art Deco 6-Shade Top-of-the-Line Clam Shell Chandelier by Mid-West
Art Deco Mid-West Streamline design six-shade Chandelier with great Clam Shell Shades from the 1930’s.
Mid-West was an outstanding company that survived the Depression that took many out. They had a standard that they never lowered and the resulting work shows just that. They were clever too. They used this “clam shell” shade for two totally different lines. The first line catered to the Victorian tastes with curvilinear lines and motifs. The second line embraced the new Art Deco Streamline movement of which, the chandelier is and was...TOP-OF-THE-LINE and their best offering for their Streamline series. This fine light has a mixed metal finishes of polished metal contrasting with a rich old gold finish and is, as the pictures tell, in good condition for it’s age. The photographic bright lights might make the nickel accents appear a bit brighter than actual but this is antique...and therefore...they also could be carefully polished to be as bright as you wish. There are some normal, minor imperfections in the gold finish commensurate with its age.
The shades are simply fantastic. No damage at all and have extremely rich colors. This light has a drop of 24 inches, but can also be lengthened by adding a little extra chain. It has a diameter of 18 1/2”.
It was totally re-wired, in our UL shop, with new sockets and new lead wire.
Each slip shade socket can easily take a 100-watt bulb. We are also supplying the bracket (crossbar) for this light so you can hang this light and have it working minutes after receiving it. A really a nice light!
