ANT-1317 Very Collectable Art Deco, SIX Slip Shade Chandelier by Globe
Globe Lighting Fixture Mfg. Co. was located in Brooklyn, NY on 7th Avenue and 12th street. They were not as big as companies like Lincoln or Markel, but they did make some very interesting, and uniquely different Art Deco lights...and now…much harder to find Art Deco lights.
This top of the line slip shade chandelier is just such a “hard-to-find” and collectable light. Having FIVE side shades and one bottom shade, it was top of the line for this unusual shaded series. The bottom center shade is just a touch darker than the side slip shades, but this is quite a normal occurrence.
The elements are very Streamline deco and it must be admired that they even designed and made a “step” shade which is so very hard to do when considering that it must be “mated” to a cast metal frame...and fit nicely within that metal frame.
Step design being part of the Deco design motif, this is a serious design accomplishment…very unique indeed. Most manufacturers left a bit of slop for the variations in castings (which happens during the manufacturing process). Cannot obtain this allowance when doing a “step” shade which makes quality control harder and more appreciated when it succeeds.
We have totally re-wired this collectable chandelier in our UL shop with medium base sockets and new supply wire. We there are two light sockets for the bottom shade where most often, accent bulbs are used. Each slip shade socket can handle a 100-watt bulb.
Measurements: Overall from the top of the canopy to the bottom of the finial is 27”. Maximum diameter is 16”. The length can be increased...if so desired…for a small additional charge.
Price: Complete UL chandelier with scarce step shades…$1,350.00, plus shipping.
