ANT-1295 Pair of Very Impressive Large French 3-Light Sconces
Circa 1910-20. These impressive antique wall statements are 28” tall. They are also 22” wide (shade tip to shade tip) and will project into the room 17" depending on which shade you measure.
The backplates are completely brass/bronze and cast nicely by French artisans. The shades are amberina-style, in nature, flowing from an yellowish/amber to the ruby tipped leaves. Very pretty.
These French sconces are a bit free-form. They are NOT perfectly symmetrical as they look more like free form art than perfect balanced lighting. Gorgeous they are...symmetrical they are not.
We completely re-wired these French sconces and removed the French sockets to convert them to our American medium base bulb sockets. We have installed our small LED bulb in each shade which does not protrude past the amberina-style glass (the bulb is our stock number 45G-E26B). This bulb does have a nice warm incandescent feel rather than the shocking white so often seen in LED bulbs.
Mounting of these sconces is by two decorative screws thru that shield medallion, on the backplate just beneath the arms. A full mounting kit will be supplied.
We think the lovely French sconces could be an excellent choice for an area needing a significant pair of sconces.
Price: $2,250 for the complete pair plus shipping.
