ANT-1248 American Art Deco 5-Light, 6-Shade, Chandelier by Lightolier
From the Art Deco period, two names for quality and design are well recognized by collectors: Lightolier and Consolidated Glass. With this fixture, we have the best of these two companies.
From the Lightolier’s 1933 catalog we have a lovely example of the “Stylux” model 2641 six shade, but with seven sockets, chandelier having some of the best shades that Consolidated glass ever made. Right below this model, in the catalog, Lightolier states in BOLD letters: “Quality never disappoints”.
Lightolier made this model both as a long drop with chain, and a lower drop for close ceiling applications. Here we have the lower ceiling version. It was priced in the 1933 catalog, in the raging depression, at $17.25. In our catalog, that 1933 price is crossed out and $20.25 is written in pencil. And it was the depression!
The 1933 catalog reports this finish as “Antique Gold” and this is the original finish with this example. Naturally, the condition of the finish is commencerate with its age...but...hopefully the pictures will show that it is still pretty darn good. The 1933 catalog also states that the shades are “Goldentone”. The bottom shade is a slight touch lighter than the slip shades, but this is quite normal with all bottom shade chandeliers.
This Lightolier chandelier has been completely re-wired in our UL shop with 5 medium base sockets...one for each of the slip shades...and two candelabrum sockets for the bottom shade since there is limited space there. Each socket is capable of accepting a 100 watt bulb. So, this great chandelier has come from our UL shop totally ready to install and will be supplied with all the necessary mounting hardware.
Measurements: 18” tall by18” wide.
Price: Complete, UL re-wired 6-shade chandelier $1,650.00 plus careful shipping.
