ANT-1213 Set of FOUR Art Deco Williamson/Beardslee Period Sconces
These sconces came from the series that Williamson called “Series Thirty”. And here, we have some history demonstrated. While three of these sconces are cast iron and marked with the impressed Williamson name...(see pics)...ONE sconce (probably a later buy) is made from Aluminum and has the name Beardslee impressed (see pic). Cannot tell them apart when they are on the wall...same casting, same mold... just with a name change. Fascinating to know the history as below:
History: Beardslee bought out Williamson during the depression and during the name switch-over, you do find sconces and chandeliers with both names put into the castings. Circa 1930's, the frames were cast and then artists hand painted the remarkable variation of poly-chrome colors. Really quite attractive.
These sconces are just lovely...with lovely poly-chrome coloring that is simply striking. Polychrome colors, near mint shades, all signed...a great find!
Electrical: These sconces have been totally re-wired in our UL shop. To maintain as much originality as possible, we removed the insides of the brass soldered-in socket shell and mounted a normal chandelier socket within the original antique shell. We like to preserve as much as possible and still meet UL current code since we are a UL shop.
The sconces mount with one normal sconce mounting all-thread to a normal electrical box from within the case. All mounting hardware will be supplied. An off/on rotary switch has been replaced with an identical one that Williamson/Beardslee used. It can be seen below the shade.
Measurements: 12 ” tall by 7” wide & projects into the room from the wall 6”.
Price: Real value is to find a matching set of 4 desireable, great condition, sconces. Complete Set of Four: $1,650.00 as seen. Careful shipping is a bit extra.
