ANT-1204 Matched Pair (Nearly Perfectly) Art Deco 5-Shade Clam Shell Chandeliers by Mid-West
Sold Individually
Art Deco Mid-West Art Deco Polychrome design five-shade chandeliers with great Clam Shell shades from the 1930's.
Mid-West was an outstanding company that survived the depression that took many out. They had a standard that they never lowered and the resulting work shows just that. They were clever too. They used this “clam shell” shade for two totally different lines. The first line catered to curvilinear lines and motifs and often used the popular polychrome designs with a base of subdued yellow complete with touches of Deco reds and greens... as these chandeliers so amply demonstrate. The more severe second line embraced the Art Deco Streamline movement. (Courtesy of the Kelly Art Deco Lighting Museum.)
The bowls have rather outstanding original colors that are still in very good condition. Of course, there are rub marks here and there as with any antique...but very minor in the overall scheme of things.
The shades are simply fantastic. No damage at all and have extremely rich colors. These lights have a drop of only 15 inches. The chandeliers have a diameter of 18 1/2”.
These chandeliers were totally re-wired, in our UL shop, with new sockets and new lead wires.
Each slip shade socket can easily take a 100 watt bulb. We are also supplying the mounting brackets (crossbars) for these chandeliers, so literally, you can hang these lights and have them working minutes after receiving them. Really nice lights.
Now while there is a matched pair—at listing time, they are for sale individually. One could disappear and the chance to obtain a hard-to-find PAIR... might be gone.
Price: $875.00 (each chandelier) plus careful packing and shipping charges.
