ANT-1162 Art Deco Pair of Unusual Slip Shade Wall Sconces by Lincoln
We really have an aversion to say the common, over-used, verbiage of every antique dealer in the world--i.e: “rare”.
However, sometimes, it just fits. As is the case with this pair of unique sconces. While we do have several of Lincoln’s Art Deco slip shade catalogs; and we are familiar with what they made and what we have in our museum, these sconces do break the mold.
These sconces do not appear in ANY of the Lincoln references we have; BUT, they are signed at their back with a later Lincoln office in New York instead of Michigan. So...we guess that the word: “rare” does apply.
We kept a sample for our museum and are releasing the remaining pair for fund raising.
These sconces have been completely re-wired, in our UL shop, with new sockets and rotary switches. Sockets can easily handle 100 watt incandescent bulbs but they really should use cool running LED bulbs which we will supply. The sockets are movable inside the shade so that they can be fastened to the wall as the clearances are so tight. Very unusual.
Let’s discuss “wow” factors. 1) Lovely Original finish which is a nicely contrasted old-gold, bronze color. 2) Mica panels to the side thru fretwork windows. 3) Lovely amber “crackle glass” shades with iconic step pattern. 4) Cast-in signature at the back which is the same signature known and used with their Beverly Series. 5) The rarity of it all.
Measurements: Overall from the top of the shade to the bottom of the sconce is 11”. Maximum width is 6” with the projection from the wall is a mere 4” and hence the movable socket for installation.
All mounting hardware, and LED light bulbs we think are best, will be supplied.
Price: $950.00 for the pair of signed unique Lincoln sconces which have been re-wired with their impressive original amber shades. Shipping adds a bit extra.
