ANT-1141 Nice Pair of French Circa 1935 Art Deco Slip Shade Sconces
Very nice frame design which is antique finished. It is unusual for the French to add attached design to the exterior of a sconce frame. However, in this case, they did this to continue the grape theme which makes these sconces unusual.
Very nice amber shades are in simply great condition for their age. The shades are Ribbed, with staggers and a with grape cluster motif matching the metal work of the frame....a neat motif of the Art Deco period and perhaps a French winery.
When received, these sconces had French sockets which were changed, in our UL shop, to standard American chandelier based sockets.
Therefore, we have totally re-wired these sconces in our UL shop with American chandelier base sockets and new supply wire. We have a neat LED bulb that, we think, lights up the sconces very nicely indeed which we will include with the sconces.
The sconces do not, and never did, have switches since that is not necessarily a French custom.
We changed the mounting application as well. The sconces now mount to a standard American electrical box with a standard American crossbar which also will be supplied.
Measurements: Overall from the top of the shade to the bottom of the frame is 10 1/2”. Maximum width is 8 3/4” with a maximum projection from the wall of 7 1/2”.
Price: $ 950.00 for this great pair of UL re-wired, French winery sconces with original amber shades... plus shipping.
