ANT-1140 Pair of Unusual American Art Deco Slip Shade Sconces by Globe
Circa 1933, these sconces were made by Globe Lighting Fixture Mfg of Brooklyn, NY. They are in their 1933 catalog and are stock numbered 5071. (Courtesy Kelly Art Deco Lighting Museum)
The backplates have a pewter, hi/lo finish and are quite nice. They have been restored (cleaned up) and re-lacquered. As with any hand crafted sand cast antique, the castings do vary a bit but these variations are not significant for antiques.
The Depression PINK colored shades are embossed like carving and the design is excellent with only minor antique wear.
These sconces have been totally re-wired in our UL shop. Normal bakelite sockets for everyday medium base bulbs have been installed just like the originals. A rotary on/off switch has been re-newed as well. The sconce mounts with one normal sconce mounting all-thread to a normal electrical box from within the case. All mounting hardware will be supplied.
A very nice pair of sconces measure 10 1/2” tall. The shade has a maximum width of 6” and projects into a room from the wall at 5”.
Price: For the complete, UL re-wired pair of documented sconces, $850.00 plus careful shipping.
