122-SOL-CC Art Deco Slip Shade Soleure 5 Light Close Ceiling Chandelier
After two years of working on this project, we now offer one of the finest Art Deco recreations on the market today. Originally made by MidWest Manufacturing of Kansas City, Kansas in 1935, this company had a remarkable attitude towards the Great Depression. Their attitude was to make only the best, since there are always folks with money out there, even in the worst of times.
So...for this “Soleure Series“, we adopted a likewise philosophy. Make it from the best material (silicon bronze); by the best method (lost wax casting like jewelry is made); with the best glass shade cast from an original; and finish it in a fine red bronze finish with highlights of the original metal...since there still are discriminating tastes out there in these times, too.
Since we are curators of the only American Art Deco Lighting Museum (see www.thedecomuseum.com), we can assure you that the original manufacturer and original manufacturing date of this fixture has been verified by our literature library as being from MidWest Manufacturing, and of this time period.
This special fixture was designed for a lower ceiling. The overall hanging height is 9” to the bottom of the case (just in case you wish the finial changed out to a shorter one), but 13 ½” to the bottom of the original existing finial as shown. The fixture has a spread of about 17” across the points.
The five sockets can handle up to a 100 watt incandescent bulb each, or purchase our optional LED bulb to maximize your energy savings. Makes running the close ceiling chandelier all night long, perhaps as a nite lite, very economical indeed and cool to the shades as well.
Look for our matching Soleure wall sconce light (pictured here also), and Soleure 2-Light Pendant . If you already own an antique Soleure light, you can purchase replacement slip shades.
