ANT-1343 Magnificent Late Victorian/Edwardian French Cast BRONZE Fixture with Nice Cut Glass Shades
Judging by the sockets and wiring that came with this fantastic chandelier, it was made in France. That is where some really nice bronze castings were accomplished and this is an excellent example.
While the entire frame and struts are cast bronze, they were assembled...not to be in strict uniformity...as the eagles vary in height slightly to make them stand out a bit more. Absolutely wonderful quality and uniqueness.
And the shades are fine cut glass and they do match with the cross hatching. You just don’t see fixtures of this quality very often.
We had to upgrade the wiring and bring this fixture into the American, UL approval state. That meant adding ground wires through the chain connections and use all UL approved sockets. Additionally...we powered up the lighting within the bowl. Previously, the sockets were very minor output mainly just for accent. We put in a center cluster with has four medium base receptacles. You can power it up or power it down with smaller bulbs...but the choice is yours. The teardrop shades contain a nice chandelier-based socket so fine decorative bulbs can be used.
Measurements: It has a significant diameter of 32” from the maximum diameter of the shade holder to shade holder. It now hangs at 47”, which could be adjusted for other heights if desired. We have taken a lot of pictures of this chandelier since it is a rather remarkable offering.
Price: ANT-1343 is reasonable at $4,500, plus careful crating and shipping. Fine Bronze and cut glass (crystal) that has been totally re-wired with American sockets and wires connectors and changed to hang from an American electrical box. We will supply all the necessary mounting hardware to connect to a standard American electrical box.
*We recommend that a minimum of two persons install this fixture (three is better). It is HEAVY and the bowl must be safeguarded during installation. Eagle heads can be used as handles, but the weight is impressive and a bit awkward. The result, after installed...Wow!
