ANT-1327 LARGE and Lovely Set of THREE French EZAN (Jean Gauthier) 1930-5 Sconces
Signed shades “Ezan” on the inside tip of the shade, they are nice examples of French glass making. They are thick, amber, and nicely embossed with design...really beautiful glass.
Jean Gauthier’s first workshop was at 12-14 rue Jean Robert—Paris and then expanded with a factory in Ezanville. After WWI, Gauthier made cameo shades that were often signed Gauthier. The glass factory in Ezanville was opened for the production of pressed art deco lighting glassware. Many art deco examples are unsigned. But...these shades ARE signed Ezan.
These sconces were totally wired in our UL listed shop. European sockets were replaced with porcelain American sockets for normal medium bulbs. We think a very nice effect is gained by using tubular bulbs, which give a more diffused lighting effect but that is a matter of personal taste. The sconce frames have an aged nickel-plated finish. No sconce switch as is typical with French sconces.
Full American UL mounting crossbars will be supplied.
Measurements: An impressive 12”+ tall by an equal 8 1/4” wide. These sconces will project into the room 6” at that center point of the shade…but…less in other places.
Price: Since there are three of these outstanding signed EZAN sconces...that have been re-wired, Americanized and are UL approved...we will sell the set of three for $2,750.00 plus normal shipping charges.
This price, while higher in number, is reasonable when compared to others on the market. Re-wired...Americanized…takes medium bulbs...UL approved...so a bit of a better deal here.
