Tired of your lamp shade being loose, the light bulb being the only thing holding it in?  This fitter clamps onto a metal socket (not porcelain) and then you can add a glass shade with a 2 1/4" fitter size.

A very common use is for bridge lamps, but also used on any fixture without a fitter but with a metal socket.
